It makes me want to scream, not everyone can afford BYRES ROAD or CITY CENTRE and since when did that main artery route in and out of town known as GREAT WESTERN ROAD become off the beaten track. I don't want to get preachy here, of course we appreciate all visitors to the shop no matter how local you are and if you do come all the way from BYRES ROAD or HYNDLAND a warm welcome awaits. Lets get this into perspective here, I live in the centre of Edinburgh and I don‘t see being located in any part of Glasgow as an obstacle, not if you have what I crave and I hope we have what you crave. I love Glasgow, I love both cities, what I especially like is that two cities so close together can offer such differences. Being raised on the west, born on the east a resident of both cities at various times of my life, I have no problem diving in and soaking up what each city has to offer. This has to be said and I don't want any of my amazing Edinburgh customers taking offence, if you want a great curry go to Glasgow. Though judging by the way they've all taken to that Glasgow institution MOTHER INDIA now well established on Edinburgh's Infirmary Street I should hopefully avoid a lynch mob.
If I want something in Glasgow and it's usually food it's simple I'm jumping a train and CAFÉ SALMA is probably my best example . I love the place. The place is like a magnet for me, a very strong magnet it seems to pull me down Morrison Street, like a living force with a voice, it says to me "chops, chops, I pass that Edinburgh sensation CHOP CHOP and it reminds me of CAFÉ SALMA and their amazing chops, so juicy so flavoursome, so perfectly charred, "chops". I climb aboard the train at Haymarket soon I'll be there, a quick walk down Sauchiehall St to Charing Cross, past that little clock, across the carriageway off the beaten track, what ever the fuck that means, to my hidden gem CAFÉ SALMA, for Chops, for Kofta, for Lamb Curry, even the Pizza is great, a Burger for the kids and the welcome is always warm and friendly, the best, honestly it's AMAZING. At the back of the restaurant and down stairs there's even a hidden Moroccan Restaurant. Guess where I 'm going next month.
